Joby Aviation Completes eVTOL Flights Between JFK and Manhattan
10 may 2026
Joby Aviation and Skyports Infrastructure completed multiple point-to-point eVTOL flights in New York City during the “2026 Electric Skies Tour,” using the Downtown Skyport as the main hub in Manhattan.
During the demonstrations, Joby’s aircraft operated routes between JFK International Airport, the Downtown Skyport, and the East 34th Street and West 30th Street heliports, showcasing potential urban routes that could connect Manhattan to JFK in under 10 minutes in future commercial operations.
Skyports Infrastructure indicated that the Downtown Skyport became a key component of the campaign, as it is currently the only commercial vertical aviation facility in Manhattan with the capacity to carry eVTOL aircraft.
The tests also included demonstrations of vertical takeoff and landing, as well as validations related to quiet operation, a key factor in the development of advanced air mobility (AAM) in urban environments.
According to Skyports, the site continues to make progress in its transition to a hybrid infrastructure ready to operate both helicopters and eVTOL aircraft, including plans to integrate permanent fast-charging systems by 2027.
The campaign represents another step in evaluating infrastructure, operations, and regulatory readiness for future electric air taxi services in New York.
