Vertical Aerospace Advances Towards Full Piloted Transition of its eVTOL Under Regulatory Oversight in the UK

March 2 2026

Vertical Aerospace continues to strengthen its 2026 piloted flight test program, moving closer to one of the most important technical milestones for its aircraft certification.

During the latest tests in the UK, the team completed a key flight profile that included conventional takeoff, controlled deceleration, deployment of all four rear propellers for acceleration, and subsequent retraction before conventional landing.

The results confirmed:

Smooth and controlled transitions
Correct operation of the rear propeller system
Recording of critical data for validation

The tests are being conducted under the supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority, bringing the company closer to completing the full piloted transition, an essential milestone in the risk reduction and eVTOL certification process.

Each flight represents a tangible step towards safe commercial operations in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry.
