UrbanV and Alatau Advanced Air Group Announce Alliance to Develop Advanced Air Mobility in Central Asia

2 Jan 2025

UrbanV, an international vertiport network operator, and Alatau Advanced Air Group (AAAG), a company focused on implementing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions in Kazakhstan, announced an international collaboration to design the country’s first vertiport network. The initiative will initially focus on the Alatau Smart City and the Almaty metropolitan area.

The project aims to support Kazakhstan’s strategy to position itself as a next-generation mobility regional hub in Central Asia. As part of this development, AAAG recently signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Joby Aviation, a world leader in eVTOL technology, reinforcing the country’s focus on the early adoption of these aircraft.

Within the framework of the alliance, UrbanV and AAAG will collaborate on network demand analysis, identifying potential routes, evaluating strategic locations in Alatau and Almaty, and conducting preliminary airspace studies, operational models, and technological requirements.

The first concrete project will be the design of a Test Center in Alatau City, an infrastructure dedicated to enabling initial testing and demonstration flights with eVTOL aircraft, laying the groundwork for the future deployment of AAM services.

With this initiative, UrbanV expands its international presence by entering the Central Asian market, contributing its expertise in the planning, design, and operation of vertiports, as well as regulatory support and collaboration with key stakeholders for the development of the national Advanced Air Mobility framework.
