Skyports Infrastructure to Collaborate with the City of Gold Coast to Promote Commercial Advanced Air Mobility in the Region
6 May 2026
Skyports Infrastructure has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the City of Gold Coast to develop an advanced air mobility (AAM) network in the Australian region, with the goal of enabling commercial eVTOL aircraft operations in the coming years.
As part of the agreement, Skyports will lead the development of the vertiport network and its associated infrastructure, including identifying strategic locations, managing regulatory aspects, and the urban planning necessary for its implementation. In the long term, the company also plans to operate this network.
This initiative aligns with previous agreements signed with Eve Air Mobility and Alt Air, expanding the ecosystem needed to enable eVTOL operations in Australia, now with the direct support of the local government.
The project takes on particular significance in the context of Gold Coast’s rapid growth, driven by tourism and preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Within this vision, advanced air mobility is positioned as a solution to improve connectivity and the visitor experience.
Among the potential benefits is the significant reduction in travel times. For example, a journey of approximately 45 minutes between Gold Coast Airport and Broadbeach could be reduced to just 5 to 7 minutes using eVTOL flights.
Skyports continues to consolidate its global presence in vertiport infrastructure, with active projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, New York, and South Korea, reinforcing its role as a leading enabler of urban air mobility worldwide.
This agreement represents a further step towards the integration of innovative transportation solutions in key cities, where efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity will be determining factors for the future of mobility.
