Skyports Drives Dubai’s First Vertiport Network with Key Leadership

18 March 2026

Advanced air mobility infrastructure company Skyports highlighted the strategic role of Akshata Shetty, Network Launch Lead, in developing the world’s first commercial vertiport network in Dubai.

In her role, Shetty coordinates multiple critical areas, including infrastructure, regulation, strategic partnerships, and operations, ensuring all necessary elements are aligned for the network’s successful deployment. She acts as a bridge between technical development and operational implementation, integrating requirements from the early stages.

The project represents a significant shift from traditional aeronautical infrastructure, focusing on rapid deployment, scalability, and location within dense urban environments, while prioritizing user experience from the initial design phase.

One of the main challenges has been changing public and regulatory perceptions of eVTOLs, differentiating them from helicopters and demonstrating their viability in urban environments. As deployments progress, acceptance has been growing.

Currently, the network launches with four key nodes, with plans for expansion both within the UAE and internationally. The lessons learned in Dubai will serve as a foundation for future global deployments of advanced air mobility infrastructure.
