Skydio Secures Initial US Air Force Contracts to Integrate Advanced Autonomy into Critical Missions

25 Nov 2025

Skydio, recognized as the leading US drone manufacturer and a global leader in aerial autonomy, announced the award of two initial multi-million dollar contracts with the US Air Force (USAF). The collaboration, undertaken with ADS, will expand the deployment of Skydio X10D systems to Tactical Air Control Group (TACP) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units, strengthening the Air Combat Command’s strategy to integrate unmanned platforms into high-impact operations.

The Skydio systems will provide airmen with advanced situational awareness, order-of-battle characterization, communications liaison, and tactical support capabilities through integration with strategic platforms. EOD units will employ Skydio drones in both garrison operations and contingency deployments, with further deliveries projected over the next 18 months.

This initiative adds to the expanding use of autonomous drones in the USAF, where Skydio systems already support base security, aeronautical inspections, and operational modernization. The Skydio X10D model stands out for its advanced sensor suite, autonomy in GPS-less environments, AI-based visual navigation, operational resilience, and compliance with Blue List cybersecurity requirements.

These contracts solidify Skydio’s presence across all branches of the U.S. military and strengthen its role as a technology partner for more than 28 allied nations and thousands of civilian and business agencies worldwide.
