Sarla Aviation Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Aster DM Healthcare and Aeromed International Rescue Services Pvt. Ltd.
6 April 2026
Sarla Aviation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Aster DM Healthcare and Aeromed International Rescue Services Pvt. Ltd., marking a key step toward integrating urban air mobility (UAM) into India’s healthcare system.
As part of this initiative, Aster Medcity Kochi becomes the first hospital network in the country to formally explore the use of aircraft for patient transport, opening the door to a new standard in emergency medical care.
In critical situations, every minute counts. Current limitations—traffic, road infrastructure, and distances—reduce the chances of survival. Integrating air transport solutions aims to eliminate these barriers and accelerate access to specialized care.
Key Areas of Collaboration
- Specialized Medical Design: Development of cabins optimized for critical care during flight.
- Air Transport Corridors: Hospital-to-hospital and door-to-door patient connections.
- Complete Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Standardization of the aeromedical transport process.
- Enabling infrastructure: Preparation of landing zones within the hospital network, starting in Kochi.
- Joint regulatory work: Coordination with authorities such as the DGCA and MoCA for operational feasibility.
Aeromed International Rescue Services Pvt. Ltd.’s experience in air ambulances will be key to ensuring this model is safe, efficient, and scalable.
This alliance positions Sarla Aviation as a key player in the convergence of aviation and healthcare, driving a structural shift in access to emergency medical services in high-density markets.
