July 17 2025

Vaulted Deep has closed a purchase agreement with Microsoft for 4.915 million tons of durable carbon removal (CDR), becoming the second-largest long-term CDR deal on record.

The company, which recently opened a facility in Hutchinson, Kansas, plans to deliver up to 50,000 tons of CDR annually once it reaches full capacity. Under the agreement, deliveries will begin in 2026 and extend for 12 years.

With this new contract, Vaulted Deep becomes the third supplier to exceed 5 million tons in RDF sales and rises to second place in the CDR.fyi supplier ranking, with a cumulative total of 5.08 million tons.

For its part, Microsoft reaffirms its leadership as the largest CDR buyer, reaching more than 30.58 million tons purchased, consolidating its commitment to large-scale carbon removal solutions.
