LanzaJet, together with KazMunayGas, Qazaq Air (Aero), and KazFoodProducts, has launched a feasibility study for a SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) production facility in Kazakhstan.

April 4 2025

The global energy transition is advancing steadily in Central Asia with the announcement of a feasibility study to build a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production plant in Kazakhstan.

This project is led by LanzaJet, a pioneer in SAF technology, in collaboration with KazMunayGas (a state-owned oil and gas company), the airline Qazaq Air (Aero), and KazFoodProducts. The project seeks to evaluate the development of a plant based on Alcohol-to-Jet (ATC) technology, which will transform agricultural waste into biofuels for aviation.

🔍 Why is this project relevant?
✅ Strengthens regional energy security through local production
✅ Boosts the circular economy and bioenergy innovation
✅ Reduces the carbon footprint of the aviation sector in Central Asia
✅ Aligns Kazakhstan with global decarbonization goals

These types of public-private and transnational partnerships are essential to accelerate the adoption of SAF and meet aviation emissions reduction targets, especially by 2050.
