Kansas State University Salina, through its Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Department, supported Kelly Hills Unmanned Systems in a historic medical delivery demonstration.

August 15 2025

The mission, conducted with the largest FAA-certified drone for commercial operations, covered more than 30 miles between Seneca, Kansas, and Onaga, Kansas.

The operation was the result of a collaboration between Kelly Hills Unmanned Systems, K-State Salina, the Kansas Department of Transportation, Heinen Brothers Agra Services, and Pyka Aircraft. This milestone marked a key advancement in Kansas’ efforts to leverage emerging aviation technologies for medical deliveries, aerial applications, firefighting, and other innovative services to benefit the state’s population.
