Sarla Aviation and CIAL Explore Vertiports in Kochi to Connect Key Destinations in Kerala

13 April 2026

Sarla Aviation has signed a collaboration agreement with Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to assess the integration of vertiport infrastructure at Kochi Airport, aiming to improve last-mile connectivity in the state of Kerala.

The phased collaboration will analyze the feasibility of ground-based and elevated vertiports, route planning, operations, and the development of commercial facilities that optimize the passenger experience and generate new revenue streams within the airport ecosystem.

The project initially targets the tourism sector, significantly reducing travel times from the airport to key destinations such as Munnar, Alleppey, Kovalam, Sabarimala, and Thrissur, among others, facilitating access to areas currently limited by road infrastructure.

The initiative seeks to integrate advanced air mobility within existing infrastructure, rather than developing isolated networks, promoting a scalable approach aligned with current regulatory and commercial frameworks.

Kerala is thus positioning itself as a region with the potential to adopt advanced air mobility solutions at a practical and operational level.
