Skyports Offers Automated BVLOS Inspection in Germany with Remote Control from Spain
27 March 2026
Skyports Drone Services, a company specializing in drone logistics and inspection, has announced a strategic alliance with HOCHTIEF to deploy automated BVLOS (beyond sight line) aerial inspections on the Rheinbrücke Leverkusen bridge project in Germany.
This operation marks a significant step forward in the digitalization of the construction sector, integrating a fully automated “drone-in-a-box” system that performs weekly flights without the need for on-site pilots. The missions are remotely monitored from an operations center located in Madrid, Spain, allowing for optimized resources, reduced operating costs, and increased monitoring efficiency.
The system installed on the construction site collects high-precision data that is subsequently processed by DroneDeploy, generating 2D and 3D models of the project’s progress. This allows HOCHTIEF to conduct detailed week-by-week monitoring, identify potential problems early, and improve resource planning for a project slated for completion in 2028.
Previously, progress monitoring relied on manual processes and subjective assessments, with limited use of drones. With this implementation, the process has been fully automated, eliminating the need for constant physical access and improving the quality of the data obtained.
This deployment demonstrates how the integration of BVLOS operations, automation, and data analytics is transforming the management of large infrastructure projects, positioning drones as a key tool for complex projects where accuracy, efficiency, and real-time control are critical.
