Joby Aviation Advances Dubai’s Air Taxi Network with Historic Flight and New Vertiports

17 Nov 2025

Joby Aviation announced significant progress in the implementation of its electric air taxi service in Dubai, confirming the development of three new vertiports at Dubai Mall, Atlantis The Royal, and the American University of Dubai. These facilities will be built by Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Skyports Infrastructure, reinforcing the service’s rollout under the company’s exclusive six-year agreement in the Emirate.

The announcement coincides with the completion of the first manned point-to-point flight of an electric air taxi in the United Arab Emirates. On November 9, Joby completed a 17-minute journey from its test facility in Margham to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), demonstrating its operational readiness and ability to operate in shared airspace. During the Dubai Airshow 2025, the aircraft will conduct daily demonstrations for thousands of attendees.

RTA officials highlighted that this milestone consolidates Dubai’s leadership in advanced air mobility and opens a new phase in the integration of intelligent transportation systems. Joby Aviation emphasized that the simultaneous progress in infrastructure, flight testing, and regulatory coordination strengthens the path toward the launch of commercial service in 2026. The initial network will include vertiports at The Dubai Mall, Atlantis The Royal, the American University of Dubai, and the future vertiport at Dubai International Airport, scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026.
