12 Nov 2025

St. James, Louisiana, November 2025 – DG Fuels LLC has appointed Samsung E&A as the prime contractor for its inaugural synthetic aviation fuel (SAF) project, located in St. James Parish, Louisiana. The project, valued at approximately $8 billion, represents one of the most ambitious developments in sustainable fuel production in the United States.

Under the agreement, Samsung E&A will be responsible for blue hydrogen, green hydrogen, and power generation, working closely with Black & Veatch, which will serve as the contractor for the remainder of the project and the overall integrator of the technologies. Samsung E&A is expected to commence basic engineering (FEED) before the end of 2025, and both companies anticipate expanding their cooperation on future projects in Minnesota and Nebraska.

The St. James project will produce approximately 200 million gallons of sustainable aviation fuel annually, with a final investment decision expected in the third quarter of 2026. According to DG Fuels, its patented high-carbon conversion system aims to achieve 97% efficiency, resulting in a virtually zero-CO₂ lifecycle without requiring new infrastructure or engines for use in commercial aviation.
