Iberia launches the SAF Circle with four major corporations to promote the use of sustainable aviation fuels

14-oct-2025

Iberia has launched the SAF Circle, a new corporate community created to promote the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and reduce Scope 3 emissions generated by business travel and cargo transport.

Amadeus, BBVA, Repsol, and Telefónica have joined as founding members of this initiative, which seeks to drive the decarbonization of the airline sector and accelerate the development of SAF in Spain and Europe.

The program allows corporations to associate the use of SAF certified under the European Renewable Energy Directive with their operations with Iberia, achieving estimated reductions of between 10% and 30% in Scope 3 emissions related to their flights.

SAF Circle members will enjoy benefits such as corporate rewards, which give access to improvements in Iberia’s corporate loyalty program. The SAF Circle has three different tiers, so companies of all sizes can join. Companies participating in the alliance will be certified by the SAF used in the airline’s travel. This SAF is certified according to the sustainability criteria defined by the European Renewable Energy Directive.
