GE Vernova to Deploy DAC Technology at Deep Sky Alpha in Canada

GE Vernova and Deep Sky announced an agreement to deploy GE Vernova’s Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology at the Deep Sky Alpha project, located in Innisfail, Alberta, Canada. The technology will be able to capture up to 1,500 tons of CO₂ per year, with operations planned by the end of 2026. Alpha is the world’s first cross-technology carbon removal facility, operational in August 2025.
GE Vernova’s solution uses proprietary solid sorbents developed and tested at its Advanced Research Centers. This approach combines technological innovation with resilient supply chains, energy-efficient systems integration, and waste heat utilization to ensure reliable large-scale operations.
The company has also launched a 10-ton-per-year DAC testing facility in Niskayuna, New York, to validate materials and processes prior to commercialization. The collaboration seeks to accelerate the industrialization of DAC solutions in Canada and internationally, addressing residual emissions from sectors such as aviation, shipping, and heavy industry.
