Supernal Pauses Its eVTOL Program Following Leadership Changes

2025-September-08

Supernal, the Hyundai Group’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft startup, has temporarily suspended its program following the departure of its CEO, Jaiwon Shin, and CTO, David McBride.

The company conducted the first test flight of its technology demonstrator this year and was preparing to move into further validation phases. However, the current restructuring includes a review of the commercial launch schedule, originally planned for 2028.

During this transition, David Rottblatt, Senior Director of Business Development, will take over as interim COO. The Hyundai Group confirmed it will appoint a new management team with commercial operations experience to guide Supernal into its next stage of growth.
