MOL Group Successfully Tests SAF and HVO in Europe

August 21 2025

On the occasion of World Biodiesel Day, MOL Group has reached an important milestone in its transition to clean energy. The Rijeka refinery, operated by INA Grupa, successfully produced sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and a significant volume of renewable diesel HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) in a biocomponent processing pilot project.

This development represents the second successful trial of renewable fuel production within the Group, following a previous pilot at the Slovnaft refinery in Bratislava.

Biofuels are an essential part of MOL Group’s SHAPE TOMORROW strategy, consolidating its role as a key player in the regional market. HVO produced from waste proves to be one of the most sustainable alternatives to traditional fuels, positioning MOL Group as a pioneer in Europe in the production of renewable aviation fuels.
