VTT and Manna Air Delivery are launching a joint research initiative on the use of drone delivery.

July 14 2025

Renowned Finnish research institution VTT and Irish company Manna Air Delivery have begun a strategic collaboration to develop a safe, scalable, and sustainable unmanned aerial transport system.

The project will focus on how drones can optimize both medical logistics and urban deliveries, from blood samples to food. Manna, with over 200,000 commercial drone flights, is already delivering groceries in Espoo, Finland, demonstrating that aerial logistics is viable and cost-effective.

🔍 This partnership will also investigate how to integrate drones and ground robots into the same logistics chain, adapting to complex urban environments and the changing Finnish climate.

The initiative not only seeks to improve services in smart cities, but also to strengthen the response to health emergencies and prepare the public sector for future challenges.
