Archer Begins Test Flights in Abu Dhabi with Its Midnight eVTOL

July 10 2025

A few days ago, Archer Aviation successfully conducted the first flight of its Midnight aircraft at Al Bateen Executive Airport, marking a key step in the future commercial operation of air taxis in the UAE.

The tests focus on evaluating vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) performance in region-specific conditions such as high temperatures, humidity, and dust exposure.

The flight was witnessed by key authorities such as the GCAA, ADIO, the Integrated Transportation Center, and representatives from Archer’s regional partners, with support from the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC).

According to Archer, these tests will allow for the collection of essential data to advance certification and commercialization both in the UAE and other strategic markets.

Abu Dhabi has been selected as the initial market for Archer’s Launch Edition program, positioning the emirate as a global leader in urban air mobility and sustainable technologies.
