Unifly Completes FAA-Led Project on Safety Standards for Drone-Aircraft Collision Prevention
30 Jan 2026
Unifly, a Terra Drone Group company, announced the successful completion of the “Well Clear Requirements” validation for Detect and Avoid (DAA) systems in drones, as part of the Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE) A68 research project, a research consortium supported by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
During the project, Unifly contributed its Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UTM) traffic management system for advanced simulations and drone flight tests. The results demonstrated that UTM platforms can effectively support DAA systems, providing a solid technical foundation for improving performance requirements in beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations and in high-density unmanned aircraft traffic environments.
The data validated within this project reinforces the role of UTM as a key component for the safe integration of low-altitude airspace. Furthermore, the findings are expected to accelerate the development of future regulations and safety standards by aeronautical authorities and international organizations, leading to safer and more scalable drone operations.
