TruAlt Bioenergy and Honeywell Sign Agreement to Produce SAF from Ethanol in India

30 Jan 2026

TruAlt Bioenergy announced the signing of a binding agreement with Honeywell to license its ethanol-to-jet technology, with the goal of producing 80,000 metric tons per annum (TPA) of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in India. The project marks a key step forward in the country’s strategy to develop a domestic energy transition and reduce the aviation sector’s carbon footprint.

The collaboration will enable the development of a national ethanol-based SAF ecosystem, strengthening India’s energy security and reducing its dependence on imported fossil fuels. Furthermore, the model aims to generate inclusive economic value, directly benefiting farmers and rural communities through the use of local raw materials.

This agreement reinforces the role of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as an immediate and scalable solution for aviation decarbonization and positions India as an emerging player in the sustainable production of aviation fuels using advanced technologies.
