Aether Fuels Announces New Leadership and $15 Million in Additional Funding
13 Jan 2026
Aether Fuels (United States/Singapore) announced new executive appointments and the closing of $15 million in additional funding, reinforcing its path toward the commercialization of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Asia through Project Beacon in Singapore.
The company strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Stu Stott as Global Vice President of Projects, who will lead the execution of sustainable fuels infrastructure at commercial scale from Singapore. His international experience in complex energy, LNG, and integrated infrastructure projects strengthens Aether’s ability to move from engineering to final investment decision (FID) and full execution.
In addition, Mei Chia will lead a new R&D Center in Singapore, planned for 2026, consolidating the integration between research, technology demonstration, and commercial deployment. This is complemented by the regional leadership of TC Goh, who is driving strategic alliances and market expansion in Southeast Asia.
The Beacon Project, developed in partnership with Aster on Bukom Island, will be the first SAF plant of its kind in the region, with a capacity of 50 barrels per day (2,000 tons per year). It will utilize Aether Aurora™ technology to convert industrial waste gases and biomethane into CORSIA-certified SAF, with an estimated reduction of more than 70% in GHG emissions. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with commercial operation slated to commence in 2028.
The new financing, structured as convertible bonds, brings the total capital raised by Aether to over US$60 million, backed by strategic global and regional investors. This financial support accelerates the execution of the Beacon Project and positions Aether as a key player in the industrial scaling of SAF in Asia.
The announcement reinforces the growing investor interest in sustainable fuel technologies, in a context of increasing global air traffic and regulatory pressure to reduce emissions, where SAF is consolidating its position as one of the most viable solutions for decarbonizing aviation.
