UrbanV and Pax Aeroportos Launch Brazil’s First Urban Vertiports in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro
13 Jan 2026
UrbanV (Italy), an international operator of vertiport networks, and Pax Aeroportos (Brazil), a concessionaire and operator of strategic urban airports, signed an agreement to co-develop and integrate vertiport infrastructure at Campo de Marte (São Paulo) and Jacarepaguá (Rio de Janeiro). The initiative positions both airports as key entry points for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in the country.
The alliance combines UrbanV’s global experience in the design and operation of vertiport networks with Pax Aeroportos’ local operational capacity and long-term vision, accelerating Brazil’s readiness for scalable and integrated AAM services. The agreement builds on previous work, including a regulatory testing facility at Campo de Marte developed in conjunction with ANAC (Brazil).
In São Paulo, Campo de Marte is slated to become a metropolitan hub, with hangar capacity and connections to high-demand areas such as Faria Lima, Alphaville, Campinas, and Santos, in addition to the main international airports. In Rio de Janeiro, Jacarepaguá will serve as a strategic access point for the western zone, enabling future connections to Copacabana, Niterói, and the city’s airports, strengthening its role within the country’s executive aviation and helicopter ecosystem.
From a strategic and investment perspective, the project leverages existing infrastructure, reduces regulatory barriers to entry, and lays the groundwork for future expansions of AAM networks in two of Latin America’s most important urban areas. The initiative reinforces the thesis that urban airports will be key catalysts for the early adoption of eVTOLs and next-generation air mobility services.
