Wing and Walmart Expand Drone Delivery to 150 New Stores in the United States
12 Jan 2026
Wing and Walmart announced the largest expansion of residential drone delivery worldwide, adding 150 new Walmart stores over the next year. With this expansion, the service will reach more than 40 million people and move toward a network of more than 270 drone delivery points by 2027, connecting cities from Los Angeles to Miami.
The expansion builds on the operational success seen in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta metropolitan areas, where adoption of the service has grown steadily. In these markets, orders have tripled in the last six months, and a significant portion of repeat customers use drone delivery several times a week.
The new service areas will include major urban centers such as Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami, joining previously planned markets like Houston, Orlando, Tampa, and Charlotte. Operations in Houston are scheduled to begin on January 15.
Walmart highlighted that drone delivery is becoming a key component of its convenience and speed strategy to meet immediate customer needs. Wing, for its part, noted that this expansion demonstrates the reliability of the model and the feasibility of scaling drone operations nationwide, directly integrated into retail store logistics.
The initiative marks a significant step forward for the future of retail and last-mile logistics, positioning drone delivery as a widespread, everyday solution in the United States.
