UK Civil Aviation Authority Launches Call for Proposals on Counter-UAS Technologies in Civil Aviation

3-Oct-2025

United Kingdom, October 3, 2025 – The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has launched a Call for Proposals (CFP) to gather global industry information on the maturity, performance, and integration of counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) detection technologies in civil aviation environments.

The call focuses on the detection, tracking, and identification of uncooperative remotely piloted aircraft (RPAS), excluding any mitigation technologies or effects (e.g., jamming or kinetic systems).

The CFP opened on September 25, 2025, and will close on November 28, 2025. Responses will be confidential, although aggregated and anonymized data may be published. The CFP does not constitute a procurement process.

The information gathered will be used to better understand the regulatory landscape and guide future CAA engagement activities. For inquiries, please contact horizonte.scanning@caa.co.uk.

With this initiative, the UK CAA seeks to strengthen the safety and efficiency of civil aviation against unauthorized drone threats by promoting the safe integration of C-UAS technologies into the industry.
