SkyDrive signs Letter of Intent with MASC for eVTOL purchase and future air tourism services in Japan
9 March 2026
SkyDrive Inc. announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with MASC (Mizushima Aerospace Industry Cluster Study Group) for the future acquisition of its SKYDRIVE SD-05 eVTOL aircraft, aimed at launching air mobility services in the Seto Inland Sea region of Japan.
The agreement outlines a purchase schedule for two aircraft to be delivered in 2028, which will support the development of aerial tourism routes allowing passengers to experience scenic flights over areas such as the Kasaoka Islands, Kojima, and Washuzan.
The collaboration is part of the SCAI28 regional business plan, which includes proposed air mobility corridors connecting:
- Ushimado and Shodo Island
- Uno and Naoshima, known as the “Art Island”
- Circular sightseeing routes starting and ending in Washuzan
Beyond tourism, both organizations are also exploring the use of eVTOL aircraft for medical transportation and logistics in remote communities, particularly in rural regions of Japan where aging populations and limited transport infrastructure create mobility challenges.
SkyDrive continues advancing within the Advanced Air Mobility sector, targeting commercial eVTOL service entry by 2028.
