SkyDrive Formalizes Strategic Alliance with ITC to Accelerate Electric Air Mobility in Abu Dhabi
18 Nov 2025
TOYOTA, Japan – In a decisive step toward decarbonizing urban transport, SkyDrive Inc., a leading manufacturer of eVTOL aircraft, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Integrated Transport Hub (ITC) in Abu Dhabi.
The agreement, formalized during the DRIFTx 2025 event as part of Abu Dhabi Autonomy Week, lays the groundwork for the introduction of the “SKYDRIVE” eVTOL aircraft (model SD-05) as a new sustainable mode of transport in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
An Advanced Air Mobility Ecosystem
Abu Dhabi consolidates its position as a global leader in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Under the supervision of the ITC, the emirate is deploying a comprehensive initiative that includes not only fleet acquisition but also the development of robust regulatory frameworks, infrastructure planning for vertiports and charging stations, and thorough feasibility studies.
The collaboration is structured around three fundamental pillars:
- Ecosystem Development: Creation of a comprehensive operational network for eVTOLs.
- Critical Infrastructure: Implementation of vertiports and high-power electric charging systems.
- Commercial Viability: Detailed analysis for the commercial operation of the SD-05 model in urban environments.
The shared objective is to transform mobility in the UAE by integrating air transport into the existing Smart City infrastructure.
“Abu Dhabi’s proactive approach and commitment to innovation make it the ideal partner to achieve our vision of integrating the sky into everyday transportation,” stated Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO and founder of SkyDrive. “We hope to offer a transformative mobility experience that provides residents and travelers with a faster, cleaner, and more sustainable way to get around.”
