Saudia Uses Sustainable Aviation Fuel on Domestic Flights from Red Sea International Airport in Partnership with Red Sea Global

12 Dec 2025

In September 2025, Saudia, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, began using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on its domestic flights operated from Red Sea International Airport, thanks to a strategic partnership with Red Sea Global. This regular use of SAF represents a key step forward in the national plans to reduce emissions and strengthen the energy transition of the aviation sector.

The supply of SAF in this operation aligns directly with the Comprehensive Aviation Environmental Sustainability Program (CAESP), driven by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, which seeks to reduce the environmental impact of air transport by adopting fuels with a lower carbon footprint. The initiative reinforces the Kingdom’s strategy to modernize its energy infrastructure and consolidate its regional leadership in sustainable mobility.

The implementation of SAF in regular operations highlights the transformation underway in the Saudi Arabian aviation sector and demonstrates how collaborative efforts continue to set a new standard for responsible and regenerative travel. The Saudia Group remains committed to promoting technologies, practices, and partnerships that support the Kingdom’s long-term vision for a more sustainable transportation system.
