Samsung E&A announced the official launch of the Wabash Low-Carbon Ammonia Project, a significant milestone in the development of lower-emission industrial fuels in the United States.

The inauguration ceremony took place on January 5, 2026, in Washington, D.C., with the participation of key officials and executives, including Kim Yoon-duk, South Korea’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; Hong Namkoong, President and CEO of Samsung E&A; James P. Danly, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy; and Simon Greenshields, President of Wabash Valley Resources.

Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, the facility has a production capacity of 500,000 tons per year of low-carbon ammonia and is designed to capture approximately 1.67 million tons of CO₂ annually, directly contributing to industrial decarbonization goals and large-scale emissions reductions.

The project represents a significant step forward in energy cooperation between South Korea and the United States, as well as in the deployment of sustainable energy solutions aimed at transitioning to lower-carbon industrial systems.
