ORLEN S.A. Launches SAF Sales at Polish Airports
July 10 2025Â
ORLEN has officially begun offering Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at three key airports: Warsaw, Krakow, and Katowice, marking a strategic step in the decarbonization of the Polish aviation sector.
🔋 The SAF offered by ORLEN significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions during both production and combustion and is fully compatible with current jet engine technologies.
đź’¬ “We are responding to the need to decarbonize air transport, meeting both market demand and EU regulatory requirements,” said Ireneusz Sitarski, Vice President of ORLEN.
🇬🇧 This initiative is aligned with the ReFuelEU Aviation regulation, which requires 2% of aviation fuel sold by 2025 to be SAF, with increasing targets through 2050. LOT Polish Airlines and PPL S.A. have also supported the measure as part of their sustainability strategies.
🛢️ In parallel, ORLEN is advancing the construction of an HVO plant in Płock to produce SAF from used cooking oil and plans to install a hydrogen station at Warsaw Airport for ground support vehicles.
A clear sign that Poland is preparing for cleaner, more resilient aviation and is committed to European climate goals.
