Neste and World Fuel Services Expand Agreement to Distribute SAF at Over 100 European Airports
23 Feb 2026
Neste and World Fuel Services announced the expansion of their strategic partnership through a five-year agreement that will increase the availability of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at over 100 airports in the UK and Europe, within World Fuel’s distribution network.
The agreement strengthens World Fuel’s ability to ensure a reliable supply of SAF and comply with current regulatory requirements, including the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and the UK’s SAF mandate. Through its European network, the fuel will be available to commercial, executive, and general aviation customers.
The alliance combines World Fuel’s logistics infrastructure and supply network with Neste’s production capacity, including its renewable fuels refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which currently has the capacity to produce up to 500,000 tons of SAF annually.
In parallel, Neste plans to increase its global SAF production capacity from 1.5 million tons per year (approximately 515 million gallons) to 2.2 million tons per year (approximately 750 million gallons) by 2027, thereby strengthening its supply base amidst accelerating regulatory changes in Europe.
SAF is a renewable fuel that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle, compared to conventional aviation fuel, when used in its pure form. It is currently certified for commercial use and can be blended up to 50% with traditional kerosene, making it compatible with existing fleets and infrastructure.
The expansion of the agreement reflects the growing need for strategic alliances between producers and distributors to ensure scalability, regulatory compliance, and supply stability in the aviation decarbonization process.
