MioTech's Nian'da biochar plant has officially become the first Chinese supplier to issue CO₂ Removal Certificates (CORCs) under the Puro standard.

May 07 2025

The Nanjing Nian’da Biochar Project is transforming sustainable agriculture in China through direct collaboration with local farmers. The project collects agricultural waste and converts it, through a centralized pyrolysis process, into biochar, which is then reintegrated into the same fields as a soil amendment.

This model not only sequesters carbon sustainably, but also improves soil health, reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, increases crop yield and quality, and directly contributes to farmers’ income and environmental education.

The project currently has an active production line and has already generated 330 CO₂ Removal Certificates (CO₂) in its first accreditation period. Thanks to revenue from the sale of carbon credits, the company expects to reach full capacity in 2025 with 1,500 CORCs annually, and scale up to two additional lines between 2026 and 2027, achieving an estimated production of 4,500 CORCs per year, with an even greater impact on farming communities.
