FatHopes Energy transforms used cooking oil into sustainable fuel and launches its digital platform to boost recycling in Malaysia

July 28 2025

Every year, Malaysia generates more than 200,000 tons of used cooking oil (UCO), a large portion of which ends up being disposed of improperly, clogging drains and polluting the environment. According to recent data, 77% of Malaysians do not recycle their UCO properly, reflecting the urgent need for accessible and sustainable solutions.

In this context, FatHopes Energy, a leading company in the collection and recovery of UCO, is transforming the waste management model by converting used oil into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This initiative not only promotes a circular economy but also actively contributes to reducing carbon emissions in the aviation sector.

As part of its commitment to sustainability and citizen engagement, FatHopes Energy has launched its Loyalty App, a digital tool that makes it easier for users to responsibly recycle their UCO. Through this platform, citizens can schedule the collection of their used oil, ensure its proper disposal, and receive rewards for their contribution.
