DHL Strengthens the Adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel in its Air Operations

DHL reported significant progress in integrating Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as part of its strategy to reduce emissions in air transport.

During 2023, the group used approximately 14% of the globally available SAF supply to fuel its own air fleet, reflecting a significant effort to secure volume in a market characterized by limited supply.

In 2024, DHL increased its SAF mix ratio to 3.5%, one of the highest levels reported among logistics operators and airlines globally. This progress comes at a time when SAF scalability, costs, and availability remain structural challenges for the sector.

The company stated that it will continue to monitor the evolution of the SAF market and share updates as new production capacities, regulatory frameworks, and larger-scale adoption mechanisms develop.
