Climate analysis firm ClimeFi has begun rating coverage of Deep Sky, a Canadian company that bills itself as the first technology-agnostic direct air capture (DAC) project developer.

Coverage kicks off with Deep Sky Alpha, a pilot project located in Alberta that seeks to test up to ten different DAC technologies using different solvents and sorbents. The goal is to identify the most effective under real-world conditions for later commercial implementation.

This project marks a key milestone for ClimeFi, as it is part of its analyst rating system, aimed at providing technical and forward-looking information to institutional buyers interested in carbon credits based on CO₂ removal.

According to ClimeFi, Deep Sky Alpha is currently the highest-rated DAC project in its evaluation library, the largest in the market for carbon removal projects. The score is supported by the project’s diversified approach, which reduces technical risks and accelerates implementation capacity.

In addition, ClimeFi confirmed that the evaluation is underway for Deep Sky One, the company’s second project, which seeks to capture CO₂ on a commercial scale.

The Canadian company is committed to a strategy that seeks to validate technologies in the field before scaling up, thus offering a more secure and agile path to generating quality carbon credits.
