Aluar and GreenSinnergy Agree to Transform Industrial CO₂ Emissions into SAF Through a Power-to-Liquid Project in Argentina
8 Jan 2026
Aluar Aluminio Argentino S.A.I.C., a leading company in the industrial sector in Argentina, and the German company GreenSinnergy GmbH, specializing in Power-to-Liquid solutions, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to evaluate the conversion of unavoidable CO₂ emissions into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the province of Chubut, Argentina.
The agreement involves capturing the CO₂ generated at Aluar’s main aluminum production plant, located in Puerto Madryn, for use as a raw material in the Eco-Refineries of the South (ERS) project, an initiative led by GreenSinnergy focused on the production of sustainable fuels using Power-to-Liquid technologies.
According to the companies, the project would reduce CO₂ emissions from the fuel’s lifecycle by more than 90%, representing a significant step forward in decarbonizing the aviation sector, one of the most complex within the global energy transition. The initiative combines industrial carbon capture, green hydrogen, and the synthesis of sustainable fuels, aligning with the principles of the circular economy.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes a framework for strategic cooperation aimed at unlocking investment opportunities, technological innovation, and local development, positioning southern Argentina as a potential hub for the production of next-generation SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). In a context of growing global demand for low-carbon aviation solutions, the project seeks to scale a model that can be replicated internationally.
