Aemetis Receives $17 Million from Sale of Federal Clean Energy Tax Credits in December 2025
31 Dec 2025
Aemetis, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMTX), a renewable natural gas and low-emission renewable liquid fuels company, announced that its subsidiary Aemetis Biogas LLC received funds from the sale of $17 million in federal clean energy tax credits in the United States.
The transaction included approximately $12 million from a Section 48 Investment Tax Credit (ITC), generated by the construction of a dairy manure digester for biogas production, and approximately $5 million from a Section 45Z Production of Clean Fuels Credit (PTC), associated with renewable natural gas production during 2025. After transaction costs, net cash proceeds totaled approximately $15 million.
The company indicated that this transaction marks its first sale of a 45Z credit from the renewable natural gas dairy industry and anticipates similar transactions in 2026 and subsequent years, driven by increased production and greater regulatory clarity. Aemetis also expects to generate a $10.5 million Section 45C transferable tax credit in 2026, which has already received approval from the IRS and the Department of Energy.
According to the company, monetizing these tax incentives is part of its strategy to strengthen operating cash flow, support the expansion of its production capacity, and foster job creation in the clean energy sector.
